Triumph Launches Affordable Speed 400 Motorcycle in India, Taking on Rivals in the Segment.

In an exciting development, Triumph has introduced its latest offering in the Indian market, the Triumph Speed 400. With a price tag of Rs 2.33 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the Speed 400 aims to provide a thrilling riding experience at an affordable cost. Early birds can even secure the bike at an even more enticing price of Rs 2.23 lakh for the first 10,000 bookings. This puts the Speed 400 just Rs 2,000 above the top-spec Classic 350, making it a competitive option in the market.

Powering the Triumph Speed 400 is a robust liquid-cooled, 398cc, single-cylinder engine from the TR-series. This new engine churns out 40hp at 8,000rpm and 37.5Nm at 6,500rpm, offering performance comparable to the KTM 390s. However, what sets the Speed 400 apart is its ability to deliver peak power at lower revs, providing an exhilarating riding experience. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, ensuring smooth gear transitions.

The design of the Triumph Speed 400 draws inspiration from its larger counterparts in the Triumph lineup, exuding a premium look and feel despite its affordable price point. The attention to detail and overall fit and finish are impressive. Notably, both the Speed 400 and its upcoming sibling, the Scrambler 400 X, feature a digi-analogue display and can be equipped with rare features like heated grips, enhancing comfort during rides. Customization options and additional accessories are also available for both models.

The Speed 400 boasts 17-inch alloy rims fitted with MRF Steel Brace rubber, providing a reliable grip on the road. It is worth mentioning that while international press shots showcased the bike with premium Metzeler or Pirelli tires, customer bikes may come with Apollo Alpha H1 rubber. The Scrambler 400 X, on the other hand, comes with 19/17-inch alloy rims and dual-purpose MRF Zapper Kurve tires, further enhancing its off-road capabilities.

In terms of pricing, the Triumph Speed 400 presents a compelling proposition, undercutting its rivals in the segment. Competitors like the KTM 390 Duke, BMW G 310 R, and RE Interceptor 650 come with higher price tags ranging from Rs 2.85 lakh to Rs 3.31 lakh. This competitive pricing, coupled with the Speed 400's impressive specifications, positions it as a strong contender in the market.

Triumph offers a 2-year/unlimited mileage warranty for both the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X, providing peace of mind to buyers. Additionally, the service interval stands at 16,000 km, offering convenience and reliability. The Speed 400 will be available for purchase from late July, while the Scrambler 400 X is set to launch in October, catering to a wider range of riding preferences.

With the launch of the Triumph Speed 400, the brand is poised to make a mark in the affordable biking segment, offering enthusiasts a thrilling and accessible riding experience. Aspiring riders now have an exciting new option that combines performance, style, and affordability.
